Dream BIG

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”

Henry Stanley Haskins

“All successful people, men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day towards their distant vision, that goal or purpose.” Brian Tracy

“All things are created twice. there is a mental first creation, and the physical second creation. The physical creation follows the mental, just as the building follows a blueprint. If you don't make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default.” Stephen Covey

You can search the Internet and you will find thousands of quotations from very smart, successful people and you may still ask yourself why should I dream big, is that even realistic?

The answer is no. We don't dream to live in reality, we dream to grow, to change our reality, to make it more than it is. OK you may say I understand why it's important to dream but why dream big I can just dream small and it's still dreaming?

Have you heard that phrase “reach for the stars so you can touch the moon”? the stars are much further than the moon, and many people suggest that we should dream bigger than what our actual goals are so we can in fact, reach our goals. But what is this all about? If I set goals, I set goals I can focus on and reach, if I set my goal to reach the stars, that means I want to reach the stars..

Perhaps it is based on the idea that big dreams require big efforts, hard work, and big sacrifices, and when you put in all that you should at least get halfway there, right?

I choose not to agree with this phrase because I do not think that if you set a really high goal, you cannot achieve it. I believe with the right mindset, the right desires, the absolute faith in its possibilities, any goal, no matter how big, can be reached.

I also don't agree with the phrase because I don't think we should stop halfway to our dream. We may just stop to enjoy it and to celebrate the milestone, but not to put an end to the road, if the absolute faith and ultimate desire are still there. Tell me, where is the logic in this: I live in Florida and I set a dream to have a romantic vacation in Paris with my husband, just so I can make it to Madrid… how is that logical? Madrid is very different in Paris… I'm not saying better or worse I am just saying very different. if my goal was to being Madrid in fact I could have just focused by visualizing myself walking the streets of the Spanish capital, but instead I visualize myself walking the streets of old Paris, because that's where I want to get.

wealthy people are not confused about what their dreams are. yes the dreams may be big or small but they are very clear, so don't make the mistake of believing in the phrase that it's OK to set goals to reach the stars and just reach the moon because it's not OK if you want to reach the moon go for the moon, and once you get there and you wanna go further to the stars do that, but don't mix things up. why because you're giving confusing desires out in the universe. choose one that it's the most important to you make it an ultimate priority get involved emotionally with it and obsess about it to whomever is listening. look at videos, watch pictures and imagine yourself being there, or having what it is that you want. imagine how would that feel, imagine what you would do with it, imagine all the possible details about your dream.

and yes with the risk of sounding absolutely nuts talk about it in present tense like you've already have it. Do you know why children love sports and athletes? For the same reason they like fantasy movies, video games, fairy tales, and playing pretend. It makes them dream. Athletes, just like a main character in a favorite book, game, or movie become these role models who are following their dreams, or perhaps a higher than themselves calling and the kids love that. I loved that as a kid and probably you did too. Who says that adults are not allowed to like the same things? We still do. We watch Star Wars, all the Marvel movies, Harry Potter, Star Trek and much more. But then, after we fully enjoy them, we stand up from the seats and we declare: Back to reality! And off we head to living that reality in our not so special lives.

If everybody would have done that, we would have no new technology, no smart phones, not even cars to drive. But we do have them, because just like in our movies, and just like with the athletes, some people dream, bigger than themselves at a certain point in time. How do they have that courage and you don’t? Is it because they’re rich already? That’s a false assumption. Many accomplished dreamers started with just a huge dream and nothing more. No, is not that… it’s the simple fact that these people dared to challenge their status quo.

Because you know what athletes and heroes are not? they are not that person who when it was a child or a teenager thought they want to become an astronaut but along the way they lost their desire and their drive to do that and now they work at the same company for their entire life clocking in and out without truly enjoying their job but just being there for the security of a paycheck.

Many people say: “life has a way of pushing my dreams down”. I used to dream of becoming an astronaut, but only a few people are astronauts, And I didn't think I could make it to become one”. Just like that many dreams become buried under discouragements from others or from the paradigm in the subconscious mind, or from life events and the environment. It's easy to settle for mediocrity, in fact entire societies are based on that.

What people don't believe in is that they have the potential inside of them, they simply don’t believe in themselves enough to uncover it.

All of us have things that we desire, wishes that we would love to accomplish deep down inside, as well as things that we feel are part of our destiny, and at times we feel so connected to them that there is no doubt in our minds, at least for a few seconds that they're going to happen… until we hit some bumps in a road. The bumps maybe not getting the promotion, or maybe that our medical visit gave us some bad news, or the relationship relationship with our loved one didn't work out, or we decided to start a business for the wrong reasons and it doesn't take off, but most often it's none of that as it is just hearing: “No, that is not a good idea” or hearing “No you can't do that, who do you think you are to dream that big?

Sadly, these messages 90% of the time don’t come from others, but from inside our minds. Based on our paradigms, we don’t believe we are good enough, or maybe we don’t believe we deserve it, or maybe we feel guilty or ashamed… whatever holds us back, has nothing to do with external factors and it only has EVERYTHING to do with our inner voices, telling us that you can’t. Many of us grew up with a very pragmatic perspective from our parents and grandparents and we were told to stop dreaming because we don't want to be identified as dreamers, as in losers, these people who just walk the Earth with their heads in the clouds.

That could not be further from the truth. The truth is: if there were no dreamers, they would have been no progress, and there has been a lot of progress in all fields. Without dreams we wouldn't have famous story books, we wouldn't have the light bulb, we wouldn't have the planes, the car engine, the laptops, and smart phones that we're using every day and night… people who were called dreamers at their time, the same ones that often was made fun of, are also the ones that changed the world. And they still do.

So, let’s talk about Big Dreams. First of all, the term “big dream” can be relative because the same dream can be absolutely huge for somebody while it's seen as very small for somebody else. It’s only a matter of perspective.

For many people making $1,000,000 seems like a big dream, but if you're asking Tony Robbins for him $1,000,000 is just another week’s income or how much he would make at another event, or just another mentoring weekend with a client. In fact, many years ago there was a series of personal development events called how to make $1,000,000 seems small, and he made so much sense because if you're taking the overwhelming feeling that you'll never get there, then to many it seems much more possible and easier to achieve.

For the longest time, before I truly understood and identified everything that has shifted in my mindset to get to where I am today, I used to believe that inspiring somebody telling them that they should believe in themselves because they're worth it, was simply enough. In my ignorance, I thought that about myself. I thought that if I am aware of my limitations, of where they come from and I identify my paradigms as coming from someone else and not belonging to me, that was enough. I knew what I wanted, and I rationally created the steps to get there, I have the right mindset and I believe that anything it's possible within certain limits… How can it not work?

As T. E. Lawrence said: “All men dream. But not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men. Or they may act in their dreams with open eyes to make them possible… I know that at the end of the day is the very mission of my life to get people to understand that there is a difference between dreaming and executing, doing something based on the things that you want to see happen in the world. But most people hit that moment of action and they stop, but they don't stop knowingly. They stop for 1000 different reasons that they're never able to put their finger on. They stop because they're tired. They stop because circumstance dictates, they stop because they don't have enough money, they stop because they're too young, they stop because they're too old, they stop for a whole lot of reasons which at the end of the day are nothing but excuses. The thing that stops them is fear. The thing that stops them is a belief that they don't even know they have. That says that they're never going to accomplish. They stop because they can't muster the belief in themselves.

To move forward, to believe that their actions will have the consequences that they want; to believe that they can learn the things that they don't already understand, to believe in themselves, that their actions will generate a reward and that reward is very simple; that you can close your eyes and imagine the world that you want to create an open them and create it. And some people are stopped by something even more dangerous. They dream too small.

The change from that starts with being willing to believe that all the people, the wall of humanity that stands behind you in the past, none of them, none of them have anything that you don't. And the only difference between the grates? The only difference between those who are remembered and those who are forgotten is the willingness to step up to the plate and call their shot.”

And here you are ready to step up to the plate and take your shot. and by the end of the chorus not only did she will be willing to but you will have all the steps and the tools necessary to do it.
